Matteo Jorgenson: “Jonas told me his hand might be broken”

“It’s mixed feelings. I felt personally very strong. But I saw Jonas [Vingegaard] crash and he came up to me in the race and he told me his hand might be broken. He had a lot of pain and he told me in the stressful moments he was probably not gonna be there, he told me to go for myself. I just tried to do my best on the last climb. I knew that a steady pace would be better for me. I’m happy that we kept the jersey in these circumstances but it’s definitely not what I imagined. I think we’re still in a good situation and I hope we can keep 1 and 2. That’s what we came for. I definitely feel really good, in control, and I try to stay present and enjoy the race as much as I can.”
