Michael Storer: “Julian was the most important guy today”

“It’s super nice to win! It was very cold but I had such a good day… And it’s not every time you have a 2-time world champion pulling for you in the breakaway. I’m super grateful. The plan was actually that Julian [Alaphilippe] went in the break. I was just racing on feelings and we were in the right place at the right time with Marco Haller. We were up there and it was a strong group. And then out was great to have Julian bridge the gap. He actually didn’t have a radio today but he’s such an intelligent racer, he felt the opportunity and he was the most important guy for us to win today. I’m just super happy to finish it off. The GC is a nice bonus but the stage win is just incredible.”
